Life Group Discussion & Questions
BREAKING THE ICE: Go around the group and have each person share a “superpower” or talent they have (ex., cooking, gardening, encouraging others, leadership, sales, fixing things, etc.). When or how did they first discovered this talent? Has this talent always come naturally, or did it develop over time?
DIGGING IN: The Seven Primal Questions: Am I safe? Am I secure? Am I loved? Am I wanted? Am I successful? Am I good enough? Do I have a purpose?
1. Growing up, what question were you most trying to answer and why?
2. Which of these questions do you feel most drawn to right now and why?
3. How does the question you identified influence your decisions, relationships, or reactions on a weekly basis?
4. What is one unhealthy way you’ve tried to answer this question in the past (achievement, approval, control, avoidance, etc.)?
5. What would it look like to respond to this question in a healthier or more God-centered way (get specific, not theoretical)?
BRINGING IT HOME: As you go about your week, don’t just think about the question, identify the lie connected to it. Ask yourself, “What lie am I believing, and what truth from God can I replace it with?” Write it down, speak it, and come back to it throughout the week. Because freedom comes when we replace lies with truth, and allow God’s truth to shape how we see ourselves and how we live.
