Being Transformed

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) – So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Faith isn’t STATIC; it grows as God TRANSFORMS our hearts and actions.
Isaiah 6:1-8 (NLT) – It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”
Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.
Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.”
Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
1. Transformation begins when we SEE God CLEARLY.
Isaiah 6:1 (NLT) – … I saw the Lord...
Hebrews 12:2 (NLT) – We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith…
When we see God - WORSHIP
2. Transformation requires HONEST SURRENDER.
Isaiah 6:5 (NLT) – Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man…
God cannot transform the version of you you’re PRETENDING to be. He transforms the person you’re willing to SURRENDER.
When we see ourselves - REPENTANCE
Repent → Receive → Restore
3. Transformation leads to PURPOSEFUL LIVING.
Isaiah 6:8 (NLT) – Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” Real faith CHANGES us from the inside out, bringing forth NEW LIFE.
When we see the world - MISSION
Jesus is our CENTER - The Bible is our AUTHORITY - The Spirit is our POWER - Transformation is our EVIDENCE
Life Group Discussion & Questions
BREAKING THE ICE: How have you changed in the last ten years? (Examples: more patient, less anxious, more confident, more mature, more teachable.)
DIGGING IN: Read 2 Corinthians 3:18 and Isaiah 6:1-8 together.
1. When Isaiah saw the holiness of God, he became deeply aware of his own brokenness. What is one thing you’ve learned about yourself as you’ve grown closer to Jesus?
2. Isaiah didn’t hide or defend himself. He simply admitted his need. Why is honesty with God, and with trusted people, often one of the hardest parts of spiritual growth? (What usually keeps us from being honest?)
3. Before God called Isaiah to serve, He first forgave and cleansed him. Why do you think we often try to earn God’s approval instead of living from the approval He’s already given us in Christ? (Have you ever found yourself trying to “perform” for God?)
4. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says we are being transformed “more and more” into the image of Christ. Looking back over the last year, where have you seen God changing you?
BRINGING IT HOME: As you close, take a quiet moment and ask God this simple prayer: Lord, what is one area of my life You’re transforming right now, and what is one step of obedience You’re inviting me to take this week? Remember, God isn’t finished with you. The same God who called Isaiah is still changing hearts today. We walk with confidence, knowing that every step of obedience is another step toward becoming more like Jesus. Trust Him to continue the good work He has begun in you.
