Where “More” Begins
Pastor Doug Heisel – May 17, 2026
2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
A foundational life question:
Is your worldview based on your experiences in the WORLD or your discoveries in the WORD?
Deepening Your Understanding of Jesus
1. Jesus wants to pour more of His GRACE and LOVE on me.
Ephesians 1:4-8 – Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ, to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins. He has showered His kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.
2. Jesus wants to pour more of His SPIRIT on me.
Titus 3:3-6 – Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. But—When God our Savior revealed His kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
3. Jesus wants to pour more of His PEACE on me.
2 Thessalonians 3:16 – Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.
4. Jesus wants to pour more of His WISDOM on me.
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
5. Jesus wants to pour more of His BLESSING on me.
John 1:16 – From His abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.
2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
You are BLESSED to BLESS!
Life Group Discussion & Questions
BREAKING THE ICE: Describe one of your favorite breathtaking views of nature. Where is it and when did you see it?
DIGGING IN: The kickoff to our series is really about our view of God. More of life is affected by our view of God (and our response to that view) than by any other thing.
1. Many people base their worldview (and their view of God) on their own limited experiences, rather than on God’s Word (the Bible). At this point in your life, which do you tend to do and why?
2. Discuss the five points and the related verses from these notes. Is there a particular verse or point that stands out more to you? Why?
3. How does this lesson challenge you? What is one key takeaway for you?
BRINGING IT HOME: Many think about generosity as something they “should do” rather than beginning with God and how generous He is. Take time this week to reflect on all the ways God is generous to you.
