LIVE WISELY

“Wisdom and God’s Will”

Pastor Doug Heisel – April 6, 2025

Ephesians 5:15-17 — Be very careful, then, how you live — not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Discerning more of God’s will:

1. Believe that you have a HEAVENLY FATHER whose plan for your life is BETTER than any other plan.

Matthew 6:9-10 — (Jesus said) Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

2. Believe that the bulk of God’s will is revealed in the WRITTEN WORD of GOD, which outlasts and outranks the opinions of every culture.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 — There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 — For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

3. Believe that God’s will has a “ME” and a “WE” that are inseparably linked.

Psalms 92:13 — Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will flourish in the courts of our God.4. Believe in God’s PROVIDENCE and PROMPTINGS.

The story of Joseph becoming second in command over Egypt, enabling him to save his family

and even the future nation of Israel — Genesis 50:20 — “You intended to harm me, but God

intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

I Corinthians 10:31 — So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
