Turning Dreams Into Reality
Pastor Doug Heisel - February 1, 2026
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 1:4-10 – The word of the Lord came to me, saying:
“I knew you before I formed you in the womb;
I set you apart for me before you were born;
I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”
I replied, “Ah, LORD God! Look, I don’t know how to speak, because I am only a young man.”
Then the LORD told me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a young man,’ for you will go everywhere I send you, and you will speak everything I command you. Don’t be afraid of them, because I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
The LORD stretched out His hand, touched my mouth, and then told me, “Look, I have put My words in your mouth. See, today I have appointed you to prophesy about nations and kingdoms…”
1. ADMIT I have an inner APPRAISER that needs to be challenged.
I don’t know how…
I am only…
2. CHOOSE God’s VOICE over any other, as it will determine the destiny I fulfill.
I knew you…
I formed you…
I set you apart…
I appointed you…
3. ALIGN my MOUTH (and inner dialogue) with God and His Word.
Do not say…
I have put My words in your mouth…
4. COMMIT to SMALLER steps of faith on the way to the Big Dream.
See, today I have appointed you…

Life Group Discussion & Questions
BREAKING THE ICE: Think back to Junior High. What were some of the struggles you recall having?
DIGGING IN: Read Jeremiah 1:4-10. Keep in mind that Jeremiah is not only a real person, but also a “representative person”. This means he represents you and me. What he feels, and what God says to him, have implications on our lives as well.
1. Jeremiah confesses that he feels he’s not enough or doesn’t have what it takes. Is there an area of your life where you have felt the same? Explain.
2. The Lord doesn’t argue “the facts” with Jeremiah. Instead, He superimposes His words on top of Jeremiah’s. What specific affirmations does the LORD give Jeremiah? What can you apply to your life from that?
3. Review the points from this weekend’s message. Which one stands out to you most and why?
BRINGING IT HOME: In spite of our fears, challenges, and busy lives, the Lord wants to use us. He wants us to step out of our comfort zones and into our calling. Pray that you can “see” how the Lord sees you. Pray that you can “see” the “appointments” He wants you to commit to. Say “Yes” (in advance) and watch what He does.
